Thursday 25th January was National Young Carers Awareness Day.
Several primary schools in Powys received a pack of paper chains onto which the children were asked to write their ideas about ways to show support for young Carers. The paper chains opened up discussion and questions about young carers
Llanfyllin high school had a whole morning of Awareness Raising with Year 7’s taking part in Workshops led by 6th formers and Young Carers Outreach Worker, Sally Duckers. The workshops included a quiz, asking the pupils to act as agony aunts and thinking about the positives and negatives of being a young Carer.
The sixth formers then ran a cake sale over lunchtime raising over £100 for local Young Carers.
