Benefits and money

A group of adult carers sitting in a gardenWe provide information on carers’ and disability benefits, allowances and payments, pensions and housing, educational benefits, taxes and credits. There are benefits just for carers, some for people with a disability, and some to help you if you have a low income. You are able to claim some benefits even if you are working, have savings or own your own home.

For up-to-date information on benefits available to you as a carer, take a look at

  • the Money Advice Service (impartial advice) information page
  • the Citizens’ Advice Benefits Calculator
  • the GOV.UK website

If you are a carer who is managing money for a relative with a learning disability, you might want to check out these factsheet for carers from Dosh (financial advocacy).

The Pogim project has developed a set of animations in English and Welsh about money matters for young carers.

Most importantly, we are on hand whatever your circumstances, to help you understand what you are eligible for, and to make sure that your family is receiving all the financial support that is available to you.
