Views are being sought by the Powys Public Service Board on their draft vision and objectives which aim to improve well-being for future generations in Powys.
Details about the Well-being of Future Generations Act are available on the Welsh Government website (click here).
Please take a look and contribute your views by 17th September. It is important to add our voice to help shape policy for our county.
We are delighted to be starting to use Eventbrite for our trips and event bookings. We are running our first pilot for the WCD Family Fun Day on 10th August. Our intention is to make the information much easier to share and link to, and to make the booking process smoother and paper-less where possible, which will be better for participants booking on, as well as for the team in the office!
Of course for people who can’t access Eventbrite we are retaining other ways to book – for example via the phone. We have just launched the first pilot today so we will be learning and adjusting our processes over the coming weeks. We hope you are as excited as we are about this new development! We have added a new link to the resources page Dealing With Specific Conditions, under the Mental Health section. Cassiobury Court have produced a useful guide to the variety of free mental health helplines that are available in the UK.
“Studies show that when you are faced with too many options, you are likely to take no action at all. To help address this problem, we outline exactly what each of these free helplines offers for people suffering from mental health problems. After you have read this guide, you will be in a better position when deciding which particular helpline or helplines to reach out to.
Free helplines provide you with someone to talk to when you are going through a crisis or when you just need somebody to talk to. Furthermore, many of these helplines are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a year, meaning you can contact someone when traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ services are closed.”
The guide is available directly here by following this link, as well as on the Conditions resource page.
Just to let you know, everyone at Credu publishes blog posts to share what we are up to – and each author writes their posts in the language they usually use. So that is why some blog posts will be English and some in Welsh, regardless of the website language selection you have chosen. This enables us to keep our news freshly published and regularly updated. Thank you for your understanding!

The Carers Trust have just launched a survey in preparation for Young Carers Awareness Day 2017 (which takes place on Thursday, 26th January).
Young Carers Awareness Day 2017 will focus on the dreams and aspirations of young carers. This survey’s results will help Carers Trust show that it is difficult for young carers to juggle caring alongside pursuing their dream job and career aims – and that helping and supporting young carers contributes to a better chance of fulfilling their dreams in the future.
If you are a young carer or a young adult carer, please help and fill out the survey! It takes 5 minutes and you can find the survey online here. The deadline for survey responses is 5th December so please do it asap, and don’t forget! 🙂
Caring Arts: a partnership project in Powys between Powys Carers Service (Credu) and Arts Connection – Cyswllt Celf.
“We want to deliver a series of arts sessions for Young and Young Adult Carers living across Powys. Sessions will include art therapy which will allow those most at need to be given time to focus on themselves. It will give them time to relax and de-stress through making art and provide a space for the participants to share thoughts, feelings and stories in order to support them to process difficult and complex emotions. Other sessions will be more open and practical and will include sessions in drama, dance, music, visual arts, film making, animation and any other arts workshop they choose.”
Here’s the link to vote on the Aviva Community website. When you register you get 10 votes, which you can cast for one project or spread across multiple projects. Please vote for our project so it gets funded!
